April 15, 2011
Dear Parents,
The fantastic 8th grade students of Valley Center Middle School will be presenting
“A Night at Our Wax Museum” on the evening of Thursday, May 5th, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Students will write an autobiographical speech about the person they have chosen and portray
that person at our Wax Museum. Students will pose as a wax figure and ‘come to life’ at the push of a button!!! In preparation for the BIG night, students have begun the process choosing an important person to research and writing their speech.
This project is not meant for anyone to go out and spend major amounts of money on costumes, tri-folds, props, etc….It is designed however, for each student to become an “expert”
about one famous or important person. It will be a fun-filled evening and your support and attendance the night of our open house will be very important to your child.
We will be sending home more information concerning this project so please be asking you child about any updated information primarily during the last two weeks of April in to May.
You may also check Ms. Gunden's or Mrs. Sandbek's web page for any additional information or updates. As you receive information please go over everything with your child so there will be no questions as to what need to be accomplished by certain dates. This will be a graded project worth +300 points in your child’s English and American History classes, so it is very important that they do their absolute best, creating the best possible project as they can.
Please place May 5th on your calendar as a very important date. This project has been done for the past fourteen years at V.C.M.S. and is something the students have always looked forward to and enjoyed doing. If you have any questions concerning the Wax Museum, please contact one of the teachers at V.C.M.S. as needed.
Thank you for your continued support of your child and Valley Center Middle School as we wind down, what has been a very fast school year!!!! Here’s hoping we see you May 5th.
Sincerely,
Anne Gunden
